Sega does the right thing!

October 22, 2008

In mid-September Primate Patrol members alerted Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest that SEGA was using a chimpanzee to advertise their new computer game, Samba de Amigo. After receiving complaints from Primate Patrol, PETA, and the Captive Animals' Protection Society, SEGA pulled the advertisement, and has since pledged not to use great apes in any of their future ad campaigns.

This is a very exciting development and we hope you will consider sending Sean Ratcliffe, Vice President of Marketing at SEGA, a thank you letter expressing your appreciation for this admirable decision. His mailing address follows:

Dear Mr. Ratcliffe,

I am writing to express my appreciation for SEGA's decision to drop the Samba de Amigo ad that exploited a chimpanzee. As you now know, chimpanzees do not belong in ads and shouldn't be forced to perform for our entertainment. I was so happy to hear that SEGA has pledged not to use great apes in future ad campaigns, and I hope other companies will follow your example.

Thank you again!

Sincerely,
