Farmers Insurance Chooses Not to Exploit Chimpanzees

January 20, 2012

We are pleased to announce that Farmers Insurance has recently released a commercial with a computer generated chimpanzee – not a live chimpanzee "actor." The graphics are incredible and show that live great apes do not need to be exploited for our entertainment or advertising purposes.

This is a growing trend in the industry. More and more companies and advertising agencies are refusing to work with live ape "actors." It is thanks to you that the word is spreading and the public is becoming aware of the plight of entertainment apes. Keep speaking up and writing in, it really does work!

We would like to thank Farmers for using a CG chimpanzee in this recent promotion. Please fill out this contact form to let Farmers know we appreciate their choice to use responsible advertising! (Choose "other" in the category drop menu. You aren't required to give them your phone or address information – just an email).

Sample Thank you Message for the Contact Form:

I am writing to express my appreciation for Farmers Insurance's compassionate decision to use a computer generated chimpanzee character rather than a live chimpanzee "actor." Chimpanzees do not belong in advertisements and shouldn’t be forced to perform for our entertainment. I was so happy to see that Farmers used a CG chimpanzee in this ad campaign, and I hope other companies will follow your example.

Thank you again!
