Fall Out Boy Video
June 10, 2007
The newest Fall Out Boy video, Thanks for the Memories, features chimpanzees, an orangutan, and a capuchin monkey. The disturbing video mocks the primates by forcing them to wear clothing and perform a variety of unnatural behaviors.
Please contact Fall Out Boy to express your disappointment in their choice to exploit three endangered species in their music video. Tell them you hope they will make more responsible, compassionate choices in their future endeavors.

Sample Letter to Fall Out Boy:
Dear Fall Out Boy,
I am very concerned about your music video for Thanks for the Memories, which features three endangered species: chimpanzees, an orangutan, and a capuchin monkey.
You should know that the behind-the-scenes story on the treatment of great ape 'actors' is very grim. Apes used in entertainment are taken away from their mothers at birth, which causes irreparable psychological harm. Training methods are physically and psychologically brutal, and 'retirement' for these non-human primates at age 6 or 7 usually means being cast off to a roadside zoo or some other substandard facility.
Unfortunately, the label 'No Animals Were Harmed During the Making of this Film' doesn't hold much weight. The American Humane Association only monitors the treatment of animals on-set. This does little to protect animals from abuse and neglect off-set. Further, it's no longer necessary to use living animals in videos now that CGI technology is available.
In the future, please think of more creative and compassionate ways to advertise your music.
Sincerely,
[YOUR NAME]
