BODUM Shows There's No Need to Exploit Chimpanzees

June 30, 2010

We are pleased to announce that BODUM® products has released a new commercial with a computer generated chimpanzee – not a live chimpanzee “actor.” The graphics are incredible and show that live great apes do not need to be exploited for our entertainment or advertising purposes.

If you have not seen the advertisement, it can be viewed on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGei3iQH_h4

We would like to thank BODUM® for using a computer generated (CG) chimpanzee rather than a live ape in this recent promotion. You can help send a letter to the company in appreciation of their efforts to avoid chimpanzee exploitation.

Please send your thank you e-mails to:

Dear BODUM,

I am writing to express my appreciation for BODUM’s decision to use a computer generated chimpanzee character rather than exploiting a live chimpanzee “actor.” Chimpanzees do not belong in advertisements and shouldn’t be forced to perform for our entertainment. I was so happy to see that BODUM used a CG chimpanzee in this ad campaign, and I hope other companies will follow your example.

Thank you again!

Sincerely,
