ACTION ALERT
Archer Exteriors Ad Exploits Chimpanzee "Actor"
July 5, 2008
Archer Exteriors recently released a television commercial titled “ "Cheap Guy Contractors" that features a young chimpanzee. Primate Patrol has attempted to contact Archer Exteriors numerous times but they are not willing to speak with us about their choice to support and promote a highly abusive industry.
What you can do:
Please contact CFO Gilbert Warren to express your disapproval of this demeaning ad. Tell Mr. Warren that exploiting an endangered species for a cheap laugh is inexcusable.

Sample letter/e-mail:
Dear Mr. Warren,
I was shocked and saddened to see a young chimpanzee exploited in the your “Cheap Guy Contractors” ad. Chimpanzee “actors” are taken away from their mothers at birth and subjected to physically and psychologically brutal training methods. At age 7 or 8 when they grow too strong to be dominated, they are discarded at roadside zoos and other substandard facilities, at which time their trainers seek new babies to exploit. This cycle of abuse continues to exist because of the demand created by companies such as yours.
Further, chimpanzees are an endangered species, and using them for entertainment purposes seriously hinders conservation efforts. I hope you will terminate this irresponsible campaign and choose never to exploit great apes for marketing purposes again. I look forward to hearing from you on this urgent matter.
Sincerely,
[YOUR NAME]
